Jay is a clinical psychology intern completing their predoctoral internship at the OCFR under the supervision of Dr. Catherine Horvath. They are working to obtain their PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of New Brunswick and have been working clinically with children, adolescents, and families for several years. Jay’s research explores the transition out of high school and into adulthood for autistic youth and their families.
Jay provides treatment and assessment services to children, adolescents, and families at the OCFR. They have experience assisting clients in managing challenges related to emotion regulation, developmental trauma, anxiety and depressive disorders, ADHD, Autism, Learning Disorders, and LGBTQ2IA+ issues. Prior to joining the OCFR, Jay worked in both the public and private sector. Their clinical approach draws on evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Jay takes a systems approach while prioritizing their client’s values and tailoring treatment to each individual. Jay strives to provide a welcoming, non-judgemental environment to support clients in feeling safe and sharing their experience.
