Ganiyat Zurakat is a therapist working under the supervision of Dr. Horvath as she works towards becoming licensed as a Psychological Associate with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario.
Ganiyat has experience in schools, community service and child and family care settings. She has conducted a wide range of psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic assessments and provided treatment services to children, adolescents, and adults. Her background includes training at a clinic school, where she supported children with severe behavioural and conduct issues through individual and group therapy grounded in compassion and trauma-informed care.
Currently, Ganiyat also serves as a Psychoeducational Consultant with the Ottawa-Carleton School Board, where she conducts comprehensive assessments and provides recommendations for managing neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and giftedness. Her work experience across different continents enriches her practice with a deep understanding of cultural sensitivity, enabling her to offer effective and respectful services to individuals from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic statuses. Ganiyat approaches her work collaboratively, prioritizing her clients’ unique experiences and needs. She integrates cognitive-behavioural therapy, attachment theory, dialectical behaviour therapy, and solution-focused approaches tailored to each client. Her goal is to provide a supportive, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered as they navigate life’s challenges.
