SHAAN DHILLON,
(he/him),
MSW, RSW

    About Me:

I am a registered social worker who provides therapy to youth, young adults, families, and caregivers. My focus is working with those that have complex presenting mental health challenges. This could include having more than one mental health diagnosis, a history or presence of adversity, and psychological hardship that prevents you from living a life of value. I have been fortunate to gain experience working in community-based mental health organizations, outbound schools, youth criminal justice centres, mobile crisis teams, and hospital settings. I am focused on applying an integrative approach in treating challenging cases that may have been unsuccessful in previous treatment interventions.

    Who I Work With:

    • Adolescents (10-19)
    • Young adults
    • Parents
    • Caregivers
    • Families

    My Approach:

I focus on applying an integrative approach that combines different therapeutic modalities to create a personalized and effective treatment plan. I am trauma-informed and client-centred, and I often check-in to maintain a strong therapeutic alliance in therapy. I adopt a biopsychosocial framework to get an overall understanding of your social, physical, community, and psychological health. We work as a team to put together the different pieces of the puzzle to support you in reaching your goals.

    How I can Help:

I provide a space that kindles a sincere and honest conversation about your mental health. We work together in exploring and understanding the origins of your presenting challenges and symptoms. I will get to know your strengths and goals, and help you develop the skills to address challenges as they come up. I focus on using evidence-based and innovative methods that go beyond the therapy room to help overcome psychological challenges. I take pride in helping you help yourself regain agency over your mental health.

    Tools I Use:

    Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
    Solution Focused Therapy
    Psychosocial Therapy
Applied Suicide Skills Intervention Training (ASIST)
